The Office of Information Technology (IT)
In conjunction with the establishment of Avicenna Research Institute (ARI), the Information Technology Office was run with the aim of monitoring, expanding, and developing key knowledge and skills in the field of IT in line with the research objectives of the institute. The Office initially started its activity by creating the network infrastructure and using the payroll register, staff, leave and property registration system.
With the expansion of ARI’s activities, extensive developments took place in the Information Technology Office, among which training and increasing the skills of users, expanding the network and technical equipment, determining and reviewing the infrastructure-based regulations and rules, promoting electronic education, development of paperless system, establishment of remote meeting and conferences are quite a few outstanding activities of the Office.
Also, the use of information technology in administrative affairs and information systems provided the possibility of electronic transmission of data, documents, various correspondences through computers and telecommunication.

The most important activities of the Office are detailed below:
- Constant monitoring of the web portal of ARI, updating news, resumes of faculty members, announcements, etc.
- Updating web pages, defining and editing menus, sub-menus, defining web pages of the main web portal, etc.
- Continuous cooperation with different departments of ARI to place information in the web portal after receiving approval from the chairman
- Carrying out all matters related to automation of administrative processes, solving web-based problems, guiding all colleagues, etc.
- Accelerating internet and data communication activities of ARI and affiliated centers
- Setting up, maintaining, and developing the data center of ARI
- Hardware and software support of systems and preparation of computers
- Implementing and communicating the policies announced by the Executive Council of Information Technology
- Setting up network services for users (Internet, file sharing, e-mail, FTP, Post fix, etc.)
- Installation of specialized software in different areas including education, finance, nutrition, etc. in different departments and training the staff
- Maintenance of networks (providing effective network service for all users)
- Bandwidth management and the implementation of strategic and macro-policies of science and technology besides protecting the network infrastructure security
- Security configuration of existing servers
- Performing needs analysis for holding classes to teach professional software by experts and follow up the feedbacks
- Holding training courses for IT technicians
- Preparing device specifications for all computers and updating the systems
- Evaluating IT infrastructure requirements
- Assessing IT proposals and their feasibility
- Examining the prerequisites for the implementation of approved proposals
- Launching new services in the field of website management
