Hybridoma Research Group
This research group has taken considerable steps in industrial and scientific developments and provided the condition to centralize productive activities in the field of human and animal stem cells utilized in creation of monoclonal antibodies.
Establishment of this group was the main research priority of the country. Providing research centers with the needed monoclonal antibodies at laboratorial and semi-industrial levels besides purification and quantification of antibodies for using in lab kits and biological products will definitely help the national projects to achieve their goals. In addition, the produced monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes as well as costly sums that are allocated annually for the importation of these antibodies to meet the needs of the diagnostic, research and treatment centers proves that he establishment of this group is quite economically justifiable.
In recent years, several antibodies have been produced, including monoclonal antibodies against sperm surface antigens, ferritin, PSA, Inhibin, monoclonal antibodies for lung cancer, and various peptides related to cancer cell markers; all in all, 100 various peptides as tumor markers have been produced.
Main activities of the Research Group:
- Producing monoclonal antibodies at laboratorial and semi-industrial levels required for research and therapeutic centers in the country
- Providing the possibility of different types of cell culture / cell preservation
- Performing different tests e.g. ELISA and assessment of the efficacy of generated monoclonal antibodies
- Collaborating in policy making and determination of research priorities concerning mAbs in the country
- Meeting educational and research demands of the country with regard to biotechnology and production of mAbs
- Training researchers in high tech areas of biotechnology
- Establishing efficient ties with international institutes with the aim of transferring technology through holding educational courses, workshops as well as conducting research projects and theses
- Generation of antibodies against human and animal makers
- Generation of antibodies against tumor markers
- Generation of antibodies against different proteins
- Generation of antibodies against chemical substances, drugs, biochemical metabolites, and environmental toxins
- Production of humanized anti-HER2 monoclonal antibodies for the treatment of breast cancer
